CLAT : Application Form

After the official notification, what's the next thing Consortium publishes? Yes, it is the CLAT Application Form.

The registrations for both the CLAT-UG and CLAT-PG will beging once the Notification published by the Consortium.

Coming down to the context of this article, we shall simplify the application process for you by giving you clarity on how to fill the form correctly (to be precise).

The common mistakes that one makes while filling the CLAT Application form are enlisted below:

Filling the name incorrectly. It is mentioned to fill the full name as per the Class 12th or Class 10th certificate. Don't miss out on the middle name (if given in the certificate).

Mention the correct category especially in the case of NRI or NRI Sponsored category. You can claim a seat in a better college with this choice if you really have some NRI relative ready to pay for your education at an NLU.

Ignoring the test center preference list by just mentioning the hometown in the first preference. You must make sure the other 2 preferences are closer to your hometown for minimum traveling in case don't get the exam center as per your first choice.

Missing the state-specific reservation you're eligible for. In the hurry to fill the form, we miss out on checking the category reservations we can claim at the college from our state. For example, if I belong to Kolkata, I am eligible to claim seat reservations at WBNUJS, Kolkata. (Check carefully before filling the "Reservation" Tab)

Note: We've highlighted the above points to make sure there isn't any scope of anxiety or cancellation of candidature on behalf of such mere information.

How to Fill CLAT Application Form ?

This one might not sound so obvious, but this is a common query that students post about. It isn’t about filling the form, but it is undoubtedly about filling it correctly.

The first and foremost is being wholly assured that you meet all the eligibility criteria set by Consortium.

Who’d want a form rejection just because of a small mistake that one could avoid? So here is a brief of how to fill the form (from start to end):

1. The initial step is registration. The online window to register for the exam appears after clicking on the "CLAT" button on the right corner of the official website.

2. The commonly asked registration fields for email ID, Phone Number, and Password shall appear on the screen.

3. A few general instructions and the choice for UG or PG shall appear. Of course, you will have to go for UG/LLB (5-year programme).

4. You then have to enter communication details, qualification details, exam center preferences, NLU preferences, and reservations.

5. Don't worry if you are still in your 12th standard; you can mention the scores as per your pre-board marks. A variation in this number won't lead to the cancellation of candidature.

6. The choice of NLUs and a reservation check is the most crucial step. You must carefully check the category reservation you can claim while filling the form.

7. You can preview the final form or save it as a draft before final submission.

8. The final step is fee payment, which can be done online or offline as per your choice. Keep the receipt for your reference to avoid any discrepancies in the future.

9. For NRI or NRI Sponsored category candidates, you have to carefully see if your preferred NLU has any reservation for your category or not.

10.Try not to fill your category as NRI Sponsored since the fee amount is doubled or quadrupled at institutions for this category. Avoid paying extra if you can spend less and still study at a good college.
