CLAT Counselling Process
The Consortium of NLUs will begin the counselling process for LLB and LLM programs at the participating institutes. Those who will score above the cut-off in the CLAT-UG have to register for counselling by visiting the official website of NLUs.
Note:- That all qualified applicants will get an email/text message asking them to attend counselling with all the relevant documents as detailed below.

CLAT-UG Counselling Remarks

You must pay Rs.30,000/- (if you are General category candidate) or Pay Rs.20,000/- (if you are ST/SC/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and other reservation category candidate) to reserve a seat and complete the preferences form (A minimum of five preferences should be filled)

Only if you have signed up for Counselling will be taken into consideration.

You have to apply for upgradation in the First List and have registered for counselling.

If you have applied for upgradation in the First List and Second List, as well as those who have enrolled for counselling.

If you are on the First, Second, and Third Lists who have enrolled for counselling and those who have sought upgradation.

How to Register for CLAT-UG Counselling?
There are TWO stages to the CLAT registration process: Filling your NLUs Preference and Paying the counselling fee
STEP 1: Fill your prefer NLU

Visit CLAT official web-page (www.cosortiumofnlus.ac.in)

Use your registered cellphone number and password to log in.

In your login account, go to Counselling Registration and Fee Payment.

Give at least five choices for NLUs to which you want to be admitted.
Important points to remember about CLAT NLU preference

You are encouraged to choose NLUs carefully after evaluating all alternatives, such as the number of seats available at each law school, as well as their CLAT scores and rank.

You will not be considered for admission to any other NLU than the one they have chosen.

If you choose any five NLUs, he or she will be allowed to compete only in those five NLUs, not in the remaining NLUs, even if seats are available in the remaining NLUs and the candidate may be able to earn a seat based on ranking. To be on the safe side, it is recommended that all 24 institutions be selected.

You are asked to carefully examine all choices and their grades and ranks before submitting their preferences. After you've submitted your selections, you won't be able to change them.

You will only be considered for NLUs for which they have indicated a preference.

STEP 2: Pay CLAT Counselling fee
You have to pay Rs.30,000/- (if you are General category candidate) or Pay Rs.20,000/- (if you are ST/SC/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and other reservation category candidate) as counselling fee online by choosing any of the following given options.

The fee payment can be done only online either by debit/credit card or through NEFT.

If paying through a debit/credit card, be ready with the card details, like name of the cardholder, validity, and CCV fill all the details in the payment gateway and make payment.

If you are paying through NEFT you have to log in to your registered Bank with your user name and password. Select the 'Add' option and enter the beneficiary name, beneficiary account number, address and the interbank transfer limit in the given fields.

You are advised to take a printout of the fee payment proof for security purposes which might help during the refund.

You should Note down if the application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Important Points to Consider about CLAT Counselling Fee

Payments must be made solely over the internet. To minimise payment-related difficulties, you are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to make payments.

Any payment-related difficulties will not be the responsibility of the Consortium. You must wait till you see the notification "Payment Successful."

Payment requests received beyond the deadline due to transaction problems or other reasons will be ignored.

Only those applicants who complete the counselling registration procedure will be considered for seat allocation.

If you do not complete/participate in the counselling registration process will be excluded.

If you are over and above the intake will be invited and registered for the Counselling Process; thus, simply registering for the Counselling Process will not guarantee you a place.

If you did not get an invitation to the counselling process in the first round may be summoned in subsequent rounds if openings in that category occur.
CLAT Counselling Fee Refund Policy
If you do not receive a seat after the Consortium releases the Five Lists, they will refund entire Counselling Fees without any deductions.
If an applicant decides to quit the counselling process OR does not accept any of the seats provided in any of the Consortium's initial 4 Lists then Consortium deducted certain amount and refund the rest amount to the candidate.
After deduction of certain amount the consortium would be reimbursed if an applicant is deemed ineligible based on the papers or information submitted by you.
Refunds will be issued to the same account that was used to pay the counselling charge. Requests for refunds to be transferred to another account will be ignored.
Documents required for CLAT Counselling
For the UG/LLB Programme:
1. 10th or equivalent marks statement
2. 12th or equivalent marks statement
3. Admit Card
4. Character Certificate / Conduct Certificate
5. Transfer / Migration Certificate
6. Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC etc.) if applied and allotted under the Reserved Category
7. PWD Certificate, if applied and allotted under the PWD category
8. Domicile / Residence Certificate, if applied and allotted under domicile/resident category seats
9. Any other supporting document to claim your seat for the category you have applied (Ex: Wards of Serving/Retired Defence Personnel, EWS certificate, Sons/daughters of Ex-servicemen/Defence service personnel etc.)
CLAT-UG Seat Allotment List
The Consortium releases 5 counselling lists one after the other. However, in the last year Consortium has released only 3 counselling lists to fulfil their intake.
First Provisional Seat Allotment List: The consortium will provide the first provisional seat allotment list, including only those applicants who have completed the counselling registration process as outlined above. If you are on the 1st List will have 3 options as mentioned below:
a) Accept the Allotted Seat (Lock Seat) In these options, you are given an opportunity to lock the seat you have been offered confirming the seat and debarring to shift your choice to any other NLU in the current counselling round. This is an option that is activated every counselling round after the publication of the symptomatic seat allotment list.
b) Apply for Upgrade This is an option that is made open to you in the second round of counselling. Also, this option is applicable to only those who have participated in the first round and have not yet locked their seats. The seats are given to you automatically in the event of a vacancy in your selected NLU. However, it is based on your selection from the subsequent allotment list.
c) Exit from CLAT Admission Process If you opt to quit the admission process, you will forfeit your present seat. Also, you will not be considered for allocation in the following lists. There is an option to withdraw the fee in two ways as mentioned below.
Second Provisional Seat Allotment List: Only those applicants who have completed the counselling registration procedure will be considered for the 2nd provisional seat allotment list, which Consortium will release. If you are who are given seats for the first time in the Second List and those who requested for Upgrade in the prior list will have the options listed below.
1. Accept the seat that has been assigned to you (Locking the Seat)
2. Apply Upgrade Request
3. Exiting the CLAT application procedure
Third Provisional Seat Allotment List: Only those applicants who have completed the counselling registration procedure will be considered for the 3rd provisional seat allotment list, which Consortium will release. If you are who are given seats for the first time in the Third List and those who requested for Upgrade in the prior list will have the options listed below.
1. Accept the seat that has been assigned to you (Locking the Seat)
2. Apply Upgrade Request
3. Exiting the CLAT application procedure
Fourth Provisional Seat Allotment List: Only those applicants who have completed the counselling registration procedure will be considered for the 4th provisional seat allotment list, which Consortium will release. If you are who are given seats for the first time in the Fourth List and those who requested for Upgrade in the prior list will have the options listed below.
1. Accept the seat that has been assigned to you (Locking the Seat)
2. Apply Upgrade Request
3. Exiting the CLAT application procedure
Fifth Provisional Seat Allotment List: Only those applicants who have completed the counselling registration procedure will be considered for the 5th provisional seat allotment list, which Consortium will release. If you are who are given seats for the first time in the Fifth List and those who requested for Upgrade in the prior list will have the options listed below.
1. Accept the seat that has been assigned to you (Locking the Seat)
2. Exiting the CLAT application procedure
NOTE:
If you do not apply any of the aforementioned choices, i.e., (a), (b), or (c), within the given period, they will be deemed uninterested in the admission process, and their candidacy will be rejected. Such a candidate will lose their existing seat and be dropped from the counselling process.
Upgrade requests from past years will be considered the price has been paid, and the procedures have been fulfilled at the designated NLU on the lists.
Those who did not receive an allocation on this CLAT merit list will have to wait for the next one.

FAQs
As per latest notification the Consortium of NLU’s reduce the Counselling fee from 50,000/- to Rs.30,000/- for the General category candidates and Rs.20,000/- for ST/SC/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and other reservation candidates. This counselling fee will be adjusted in the admission fees in the college allotted by the NLU.
Yes, the waiting list is there in the CLAT Counselling, but it will be issued along with the Provisional Allotment List from the first 2500 applicants who have been undertaken the counselling after remitting the fees.
The list will be prepared by selecting the candidates proportionately from different categories like- General/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ DFF/ NRI, etc both from the All India and State (Domicile) category of candidates.
An aspirant must score between 85 and 87 in order to be admitted to one of the top three NLUs. If an applicant's score falls between 83 and 85, he or she will be admitted to one of the top five NLUs. A score of 80 to 82 is required for the top ten NLUs.
